U.S. Men Will Play Brazil in Water Polo

The U.S. men’s national water polo team will play Brazil in a three-game exhibition series beginning at 9 tonight at Los Alamitos Armed Forces Center.

Games are also scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Claremont College and at 7 p.m. Sunday at El Toro High. The teams will use the series as a warmup for the FINA World Championships, July 19-29, in Japan.

U.S. team members include Adam Wright of Seal Beach, Chris Segesman of Santa Barbara, Merrill Moses of Rancho Palos Verdes and Olympians Tony Azevedo and Ryan Bailey of Long Beach.

* The U.S. junior national women’s team lost to the Netherlands, 12-7, Thursday in the Holiday Cup tournament at the Los Alamitos Armed Forces Center.

Lauren Heineck, one of six high school players on the team, led the U.S. with two goals.

In other tournament games, Italy defeated Brazil, 15-0, and Greece beat Canada, 5-4.
