From Times Wire Reports

More than 100,000 workers staged strikes in cities throughout Italy, while pilots, flight attendants and air traffic controllers added to the chaos.

The biggest protests were in Milan, where an estimated 60,000 metalworkers paraded through the streets carrying banners demanding larger pay increases.

In Turin, more than 30,000 workers disrupted production at several major plants. Similar marches were held in Rome, Bologna, Florence, Genoa and Palermo in Sicily.
