It’s Not the Teachers

Share

Re “It’s Feast to Famine for School Districts,” July 8: Those greedy teachers, taking all that money away from “our kids.”

Once again, The Times has painted teachers as the root of all problems in education. At a time of year when many teachers are budgeting for the long summer vacation, when many do not get paid, your article only goes to remind us just how little we get paid. It is not the teachers who are responsible for the bureaucratic waste and administrative incompetence at the top. Most districts have more than enough money to both pay their teachers and run all of their programs, yet due to mismanagement from the top they cry poor and blame teachers. When will The Times finally stop teacher bashing and write about the real problems in education? It is not teachers and their meager raises.
