College to Seek New Trial in Age Bias Case
From Times Staff Reports
Chaffey College plans to seek a new jury trial after losing an age discrimination case that ended with a $600,000 judgment, an attorney said Monday.
A San Bernardino County Superior Court jury Friday awarded the money to Patty Wangler, 48, of Rancho Cucamonga. The jury found the college failed to give her a tenure-track job as an English professor in 1998 because of her age and in retaliation for a complaint she filed against the school with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in 1997.
