EDS, Sun Form Alliance for Corporate Networks

Electronic Data Systems Corp., the second-biggest computer-services provider, and Sun Microsystems Inc. formed an alliance to run computer networks and host Web sites for large corporations.
The venture is expected to generate sales of about $3 billion over five years, EDS Vice President John Wilkerson said. It will use hardware and software from Sun, the largest maker of server computers that run Web sites.
EDS, based in Plano, Texas, hopes the partnership will help the company win more consulting jobs. Palo Alto-based Sun is looking to boost sales as customers cut spending in response to the slowing U.S. economy.
