17-Year-Old Girl Dies of Accident Injuries

A 17-year-old Newbury Park girl involved in a two-car collision over the weekend died Sunday at Los Robles Regional Medical Center, officials said.
Stephanie Whittington was traveling west on Hillcrest Drive toward Citation Way in Thousand Oaks about 4:15 p.m. when she lost control on a curve and veered into oncoming traffic, police said.
A 1996 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Thomas Mendel, 52, of Thousand Oaks, struck the side of Whittington’s 1992 Honda Prelude. Mendel suffered minor injuries.
