Hearing Set for Educator in Molestation Case
A 42-year-old Fontana middle school assistant principal will be arraigned this morning on charges of molesting two teenage boys, authorities said Tuesday.
Redlands police arrested Lawrence Alan Proffitt, who works at Almeria Middle School, Saturday at his Redlands home after police received a call Friday reporting the alleged molestation.
The boys, who are between 12 and 18, are not students at Almeria Middle School.
Police would not say how Proffitt knew them.
Police arrested Proffitt on suspicion of various sex-related crimes involving a child. He was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga and bail was set at $1 million, police said.
School officials, who are conducting their own investigation, said Proffitt would be put on paid leave until the case is resolved.
