Man Sought in Killing of Ex-Wife’s Boyfriend
A Santa Fe Springs man who apparently rode his bicycle to his ex-wife’s Lake Forest condominium where he allegedly shot and killed her boyfriend late Wednesday is being sought by sheriff’s deputies.
Frank Madrano ambushed his ex-wife, Julie Madrano, 44, and Samuel Ramirez, 48, as they stood in the condominium’s garage, preparing to go out for the evening, said Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities estimate that Madrano fired 10 rounds from a large caliber, semiautomatic pistol, striking Ramirez twice in the upper body. Ramirez was pronounced dead at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo. The woman was uninjured in the 9:30 p.m. shooting.
It appears Madrano rode a bicycle to the Oakville Street residence, parked it in the bushes and waited in the darkness, Amormino said.
Amormino said Julie Madrano told deputies that her former husband had been increasingly hostile. She said she had obtained a restraining order against him.
