Fire Destroys Home of Police Scandal Witness
City officials are investigating a fire that destroyed the home of the mother of a man who testified in a police scandal.
A spokeswoman for the Oakland city attorney’s office said no direct links have been made between the fire and the scandal case.
Four fired police officers are expected to be arraigned on criminal charges next week.
The house that Dolores Allen shared with her son, Delphine Allen, 22, was gutted early Monday. He was allegedly beaten by the accused officers last June.
Clarence “Chuck” Mabanag, Jude Siapno and Matthew Hornung will stand trial on criminal charges connected to the Delphine Allen case and others. A fourth accused former officer, Frank Vazquez, has fled the country.
