Jennifer Jason Leigh and Alan Cumming, who appeared together on Broadway in the musical “Cabaret,” have teamed to write, direct and star in the digital feature “The Anniversary Party.” The film covers 24 turbulent hours in the lives of a movie actress and her novelist-about-to-turn-director husband as they celebrate their sixth anniversary (and his recent stint in rehab). Jane Adams, Mina Badie, Jennifer Beals, Phoebe Cates, John Benjamin Hickey, Kevin Kline, Denis O’Hare, Gwyneth Paltrow, Michael Panes and John C. Reilly play their friends, neighbors and fellow party celebrants. * “The Anniversary Party,” rated R for language, drug use and nudity, opens Friday in select theaters.

The 1940s black jazz scene in Los Angeles is re-created in Stephen Sachs’ play “Central Avenue,” directed by Shirley Jo Finney and starring Anthony J. Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers kick up their heels in the 1936 classic “Swing Time” at the Old Town Music Hall in El Segundo. George Stevens directed the duo playing a dance team whose possible romance is deterred by Fred’s engagement to a girl back home. Victor Moore and Helen Broderick provide support, andJerome Kern and Dorothy Fields wrote the songs. The Bojangles production number is considered a landmark of cinematic hoofing.

Babbie Green is the daughter of legendary film composer Johnny Green (“Body and Soul,” “Out of Nowhere”) and an award-winning singer-songwriter in her own right.
