Hispanic TV to Air 24 Hours

Hispanic Television Network Inc. signed agreements with cable-system operators to air Spanish-language programming 24 hours a day in Los Angeles, the nation’s largest Hispanic market.

Hispanic Television ended an agreement to air programming on Los Angeles TV station KJLA after it couldn’t secure prime-time hours for the content, the company said.

The Fort Worth-based company gained the all-day exposure in Los Angeles by expanding contracts with cable systems owned by companies such as AOL Time Warner Inc. and AT&T; Corp. The agreements will generate cable-subscription revenue as well as advertising revenue for Hispanic Television.

The company expects to save $300,000 a month because it won’t have to pay affiliate fees to KJLA, said Ash Huzenlaub, a principal at Hispanic Television investor Woodcrest Capital and a spokesman for the broadcaster.

Hispanic Television said it will announce “in the near future” when its programming will be available on Los Angeles cable stations. The company plans to keep its Los Angeles sales office.

Shares of Hispanic Television fell 7 cents to close at 62 cents on Nasdaq. They had fallen 93% in the last year.
