Coroner Identifies Man Killed After Police Chase
The Ventura County coroner’s office identified a 28-year-old man killed Saturday by police in Oxnard after a high-speed chase as Beau Kirnol Blain of Culver City.
Blain was shot five times in the upper torso and head after a 40-mile pursuit by the Los Angeles Police Department that began in Venice and ended at Oxnard Boulevard and Gonzales Road about 11:50 p.m. During the chase, a stolen 1999 Chevy Suburban that Blain was driving struck several parked vehicles.
Police said they received a call earlier that the Suburban had been stolen in Marina del Rey.
The chase went through downtown Oxnard before the vehicle spun out of control. Police said Blain ignored orders to surrender and sped toward crouching LAPD officers, who opened fire. Blain died at the scene.
