Attacks Mar Chechnya Leadership Anniversary
Guerrillas in Chechnya killed at least two police officers in attacks coinciding with the first anniversary of the separatist republic’s pro-Russian administration taking office.
The killings were part of an upsurge in violence directed at targets associated with the Moscow-installed administration led by Akhmad Kadyrov.
The Interfax news agency quoted police in Chechnya as saying two policemen were killed when their car ran over a mine in the republic’s capital, Grozny.
