2 Drivers Killed in Head-On Collision
A head-on crash early Friday killed a Lancaster man who swerved into oncoming traffic and a Quartz Hill woman in an oncoming car.
Gregory Reed, 28, lost control of his car while traveling west on Avenue N between Palmdale and Lancaster, California Highway Patrol spokesman Charles Blair said. The car careened into oncoming traffic and collided with a van driven by Martha Shuit, 57.
Shuit died at the scene. Reed died an hour later at Antelope Valley Hospital, Blair said.
Blair said officers had not determined why Reed lost control of his car. There were no passengers in either vehicle, he said.
