It’s the Wrong Time for Beachside Construction

Re “Project Makes Waves at Bolsa Chica Beach,” June 12:

The Bolsa Chica renovation project is going to be an inconvenience for travelers and the local community, especially during the summer months.

Travelers come from all over for the beach city camping experience and now at Bolsa Chica State Beach all 59 camping spaces are closed. There will be no place for recreational vehicle parking and the majority of the travelers will have to find a new beach site. As a result, the downtown retailers are going to be affected by this closure and consequently lose money.

Every morning the walking and bike trails are used by a significant number of people. Now that this project has torn apart the trail it has been rerouted around traffic zones. Pacific Coast Highway is hectic enough during the summer months; now it has been reduced to one lane.

This project should have been further postponed until after the summer months. After all, this is the busiest time for the beach cities. This project is an eyesore for the community and is going to hurt the city of Huntington Beach until the unknown completion date.
