Fox Says ‘Towelgate’ Is Being Investigated

Mexican President Vicente Fox said his administration will fire officials found responsible for furnishing his presidential mansion with items including $400 towels and $17,000 electric curtains.
Fox, who took office in December promising an austere government, was embarrassed last week by revelations of redecorating expenses carrying a price tag of about $400,000.
Fox said the government’s comptroller general was investigating the affair, dubbed “Towelgate.”
