Arizona Man, 88, Dies After Being Hit by Van
An 88-year-old Arizona man in Thousand Oaks to visit his family was fatally injured when he was hit by a car while crossing a street near his hotel.
Sam Walters of Scottsdale was crossing Townsgate Road west of Village Glen Drive in the middle of the block about 7:45 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a westbound 1993 Toyota van, officials said. He had checked into the Hyatt Westlake a few hours earlier, said Deputy Medical Examiner Armando Chavez.
Walters was taken by ambulance to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
The driver, Howard Johnson, 55, of Newbury Park, was not injured. He was not cited in the accident.
