From Times Staff Reports
A former Oxnard police officer accused of trying to rob a local bank in an effort to escape mounting debts was convicted of those charges Wednesday.
The jury took just over a day to convict Edward Ludaescher, 41, on charges of attempted robbery, burglary and planting a fake bomb.
Prosecutors said Ludaescher carried a $100,000 bank loan and other debts in connection with a business he started after retiring.
