Violence Prevention

Re “Helping Boys Be Boys, Not Abusers,” June 26: It is good that an organization is teaching boys in violent homes not to become batterers. But what about girls? Survey data consistently show that women are just as violent as men in relationships. And researchers in the Journal of Marriage and the Family in 1986 found the lack of ameliorative programs for female perpetrators allows female violence to remain constant even as male violence drops.

The violence cannot stop unless we address all of it. At least one organization, Stop Abuse For Everyone, is doing just that. Readers can visit www.safe4all.org.
