A man suspected of being the naked burglar who broke into three Huntington Beach homes was arrested Friday at his mother’s house after she called police, authorities said.

Fady Elbouhy, 22, of Huntington Beach was arrested Thursday night and being held at the Orange County Jail in Santa Ana on two counts of burglary, police Sgt. Janet Perez said. Investigators think Elbouhy was involved in a break-in in December and two incidents on Jan. 30 in a southeast Huntington Beach neighborhood, Perez said.

In the first of the January incidents, a woman called police about 5:45 a.m. to say she woke up to find a naked man standing over her bed. He fled when she woke up, police said, and escaped without taking any property.

An hour later, a nearby resident reported that a naked man was standing in a hallway of his home. The resident scuffled with the man, who escaped through a bathroom window.

Elbouhy may also be connected to the earlier incident in which a resident found a naked man sitting on the couch and watching television, authorities said.

Police identified Elbouhy after an officer recognized him from composite drawings based on witnesses’ identifications from a photo lineup.

Officers contacted Elbouhy’s mother, who cooperated with the investigation.

“She’s concerned about him,” Perez said. “He’s had some issues with drugs, and she just wanted to make sure that everything got straightened out. She was really concerned about his welfare.”
