Technically Speaking, He May Have Been Right
Perhaps Coach Lavin was a bit too emotive last Saturday at Oregon State, but someone needed to blow the whistle on Pac-10 officiating. It is as poor as I have ever seen for a major conference. At best it’s inconsistent and at worst it’s very anti-Bruin. Some officials do not even seem to understand basic rules. Heck, if they get any worse, some of these officials might have a future as NBA refs.

So Lavin complained about the officiating in the Oregon State game, made throat-slashing gestures, yelled at the refs, and was not given a technical foul. Doesn’t that prove his case against them?
Also, Lou Campanelli says the officials called “one hell of a basketball game.” I guess he must have left before they made the ball boy cry.
