President Bush might be worried about a soft economy, but there was no sign of weakening at the recent Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz. A record 3,200 bidders spent a collective $26.7 million--the biggest sale total in a decade--at the four-day event Jan. 18-21. American muscle cars and hot rods remained a favorite of a crowd made up largely of baby boomers who can now afford to buy the cars they lusted after as cash-strapped teenagers in the 1960s and ‘70s. Highlights of the auction, including photographs and a complete list of cars and sale prices, can be seen online at www.barrett-jackson.com.
