Irvine Sensors Signs $2-Million Contract

Irvine Sensors Corp. said Wednesday that it has won a $2-million research and development contract to demonstrate ultra-high-speed memory technology to support high performance signal processing, computing and communications applications.

The Costa Mesa company said in a press release that the 24-month contract is being administered by the U. S. Naval Research Laboratory and funded by the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization’s Small Business Innovation Research program.

The developer of high density electronics said the planned multi-chip modules, dubbed SuperMemory, will combine Irvine Sensors’ patented memory-stacking technology with low temperature, serial superconductor electronics.

The company’s stock gained 15 cents Wednesday to close at $1.91 a share on Nasdaq.
