Nicole Frantz, a top scholar, athlete and accomplished dancer at Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City, was remembered Wednesday during a campus memorial service.

Nicole, who died Friday night in a car accident near Mammoth Lakes, was captain of the school’s cheerleading squad and planned to attend Emory University in Atlanta in the fall, said Tom Hudnut, headmaster at the private secondary school.

About 800 mourners gathered Wednesday morning at nearby St. Michael and All Angels’ Episcopal Church to remember Nicole, Hudnut said. Interment followed at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.

“It was a glorious service at which faculty, friends and family spoke,” Hudnut said. “Her fellow dancers shared through dance their feelings. The school chamber orchestra played and our two chaplains, Rabbi Jacqueline Ellenson and Father J. Young, officiated. It was a wonderful celebration of Nicole’s life.”

Nicole is survived by her parents, Joseph and Theresa Frantz, who is head of the middle school science department, and a younger sister Rebecca, who is a Harvard-Westlake sophomore.
