Regarding “‘Living Rooms are Losing Out as Homes Grow,” (Inman News Features, Feb. 25): Living rooms have never been used for living. They have been formal rooms reserved for guests, sometimes forbidden to the members of the household.
“Family rooms” were invented so that people who lived in the house would have a place for their activities. So why not just rename family rooms living rooms? The so-called living rooms can be called what they are, formal rooms or reception areas.
