Maybe Webcam Is What’s Needed in Mayor’s Office
I would like to thank Martin Miller for writing about the “other” mayoral candidates (“A Snowball’s Chance in L.A.,” March 7). But saying that Francis DellaVecchia’s idea of putting a Webcam in the mayor’s office smacks “vaguely of political porn” unfairly demeans and trivializes a very intelligent candidate with an idea whose time has come. There are Webcams on all kinds of people everywhere; why not on our elected officials?
If anyone were really serious about campaign finance reform, they would outlaw political television advertisements and replace those misleading 30-second sound bites with real news coverage for all candidates--and those candidates who had nothing to hide would make themselves available to us on the Internet.
