Bail Reduction Hearing Delayed for Hells Angel Leader

A Superior Court judge delayed Friday a hearing on whether the $1-million bail of Hells Angels leader George Christie Jr. should be reduced to $250,000 in a drug and racketeering case involving 28 suspects.
Judge Arturo Gutierrez continued the hearing until Monday at 1:30 p.m. after prosecutors said they needed more time to study a 59-page filing by Christie’s lawyer, Anthony Brooklier of Los Angeles.
The bail-reduction motion and character references by 15 friends, family members and business owners were filed about noon Thursday.
In the same case, Gutierrez lowered the $1-million bail of Hells Angel Leonardo Martinis to $100,000, the usual bail for the crimes he is suspected of--committing felonies for the benefit of a street gang and making the Hells Angels clubhouse available for the storage of drugs.
Martinis, originally of Brazil, operates a tattoo parlor in Los Angeles County. He has no criminal record.
