Fresh fighting in Indonesia’s restive Aceh province has killed at least 15 people, while on Borneo indigenous tribes people have killed eight settlers in renewed ethnic violence, officials said.

Aceh Police Chief Said Huseini said some of the dead were separatist rebels shot by police officers Saturday on the outskirts of Aceh’s provincial capital, Banda Aceh, but he would give no details.

In unrelated violence on Borneo, Dayak gangs have killed eight migrants found hiding in the jungle, adding to a death toll of hundreds slaughtered in a campaign of “ethnic cleansing,” a local doctor said.
