SafeGuard Health Posts $2-Million Loss for Quarter

SafeGuard Health Enterprises Inc., an Aliso Viejo provider of dental and vision plans as well as administrative and other services for preferred-provider organizations, reported a net loss of $2 million, or 42 cents a share, for the fourth quarter, which included a loss of $750,000 from discontinued operations. A year earlier, the company posted a loss of $2.1 million, or 45 cents a share. Revenue declined 1% to $24 million. For the year, the company lost $9 million, or $1.89 a share, compared with a net loss of $52 million, or $10.96 a share, for 1999. Revenue increased 1% to $97.3 million.
