Postal Approval

* Re “Lack of Service Is Dumbth-Founding,” Voices, March 17: My memory goes back to the days when there were no women or persons of color working at post offices. You had to have cash because checks were not accepted. Today, when I enter a post office, I am so amazed and proud of the friendly, caring attitude and the many items and services that are available. At home or work, when I need postal information there is an 800 number that reaches a gentle person who is polite, knowledgeable and helpful. Your “Gripe” writer refers to this man as being an “800 guy.” My appreciation, respect and thanks go to all gentle persons who are polite as they work to serve all of us.
