Terrapins See the Light at Pond

Share

Maryland shot the lights out Saturday, dispelling the notion that the Arrowhead Pond is a difficult place to find the basket.

The Terrapins had made only six of 29 three-pointers their previous three tournament games but buried nine of 13 against Stanford. It was the most three-pointshots made by the Terrapins in nearly four months. Tahj Holden equaled a career high by making three.

Guard Steve Blake, who made all three of his three-pointers, said that Maryland was looking to run the Cardinal out of the arena.

“On every rebound, we wanted to push [in transition]--every time,” he said.

Forward Terence Morris opened the game with a three-pointer.

“That first shot was a big lift for us” Coach Gary Williams said. “Just to give us the confidence that we could get off to a great start.”

Stanford guard Casey Jacobsen said he felt hopeless at times.

“At no point in this game, did we have control,” he said. “We could not stop them from scoring.”
