* Mexican Rock--El Vez, the Mexican Elvis impersonator dubbed “Elvis with salsa” by People magazine, will perform Friday at 8 p.m. at the Cal State Northridge Performing Arts Center, 18111 Nordhoff St. Along with his band, the Memphis Mariachis, and his backup singers, the Lovely Elvettes, El Vez delivers a show that has been described as the Chicano experience told through the songs of Elvis. His shows feature such numbers as “Blue Suede Shoes (“Huaraches Azules”) and “In the Ghetto” (“En el Barrio”). $15. (818) 677-2488.

* Chamber Music--The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra will perform Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Alex Theatre, 216 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale. Pianist Garrick Ohlsson will be the featured soloist in the Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 1 in C minor and the Haydn Piano Concerto in D. Susan Greenberg will be the piccolo soloist in Bruce Broughton’s Concerto for Piccolo and Chamber Orchestra. Bizet’s Symphony No. 1 in C will close the program. $13-$53. (213) 622-7001, Ext. 215.

* Community Fair--The fourth annual Calabasas Arts & Crafts Festival will be this weekend at the Calabasas Commons, corner of Calabasas Road and Park Centre. The works of more than 130 artists and craftspeople will be on display, and the day will include children’s activities, food and live music. In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Saturday’s musical menu will feature samba, salsa and Latin jazz, in addition to flamenco guitarist Victory Mori.
