The St. Louis Cardinals finally found a way to defeat Tom Glavine.

He lost to St. Louis for the first time in six years as the Cardinals rallied for three runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Braves, 4-2, at Atlanta on Friday night.

Glavine (4-2) had been 7-0 with a 2.82 earned-run average in eight starts against St. Louis since a 7-3 loss at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium in 1995. He dropped to 14-5 against the Cardinals, who sent the slumping Braves to their fourth loss in five games.

“Even when things are going good, you don’t go out and assume you’re going to score a bunch of runs,” Glavine said. “I think we’re still convinced that we’re a better team offensively than we’ve shown and that we’ll be better than we’ve been.”

St. Louis tied the score in the sixth on J.D. Drew’s RBI double, then loaded the bases twice the next inning and surged ahead.

San Francisco 4, Philadelphia 2--Barry Bonds hit his 13th homer in 19 games to spark a three-run sixth at Philadelphia.

Livan Hernandez (2-4), who had lost his previous four decisions, gave up two runs and six hits in a season-high eight innings. Robb Nen pitched the ninth for his eighth save.

New York 4, Arizona 2--John Franco, voted the Mets’ captain before the game, pitched the ninth inning at New York for his first save and 421st of his career.

Timo Perez singled off Miguel Batista (0-1) to break a 2-2 tie in the seventh.

Colorado 9, Pittsburgh 3--Greg Norton’s second homer in two days finished off a four-run fifth inning at Pittsburgh and Todd Helton added a 443-foot homer and drove in three runs as the Rockies dealt the Pirates their fifth loss in six games.
