Vermont Expands Its Borders

Update: The guys who own Vermont restaurant in Los Feliz have expanded, converting the space next door into a bar. The lounge has its own menu with bites like chicken satay ($8), fried calamari ($10) and vegetable spring rolls ($7). It’s open from 5:30 p.m. until midnight daily. The main dining room is now open nightly for dinner and Monday through Friday for lunch. For Mother’s Day, Vermont will be open from noon until 9 p.m. with a la carte menu specials such as crab cakes ($12), eggs benedict ($14), pistachio-crusted chicken breast ($18) and calf’s liver with caramelized onions ($19).

For Mother’s Day: New Canoga Park Italian restaurant Cavaliere offers a prix-fixe Mother’s Day meal from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. Owners Luigi Ghilardi from Piedmont and Roberto Polese from Milan have selected five courses for mom, starting with fried polenta topped with mushrooms and Fontina cheese. A light salad follows, then a pasta course--penne in red lobster sauce or lobster and asparagus ravioli. The main dish is either grilled salmon in a lemon dressing or veal in porcini mushroom sauce. Dessert is a selection of sorbets or pastries. The tab, which includes champagne, is $38.

In West Hollywood, Blue Palms serves Mom brunch on its new patio from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The meal begins with “disheveled” eggs, followed by choices such as granola-crusted French toast, eggs benedict with crab and smoked turkey club. The $15.99 tab includes Champagne.

Delmonico’s Lobster House, which just changed its name from Delmonico’s Seafood Grille, offers a three-course meal for $34.95 for Mother’s Day. It includes a mango lobster cocktail, Atlantic salmon stuffed with lobster, and a chocolate and vanilla baked Alaska.

Fenix at the Argyle Hotel offers a four-course Mother’s Day brunch Sunday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $45. Choices include a morel mushroom and roasted garlic tamale, lobster-vanilla bisque with a Dungeness crab cake, herb-crusted New Zealand prawns and tangerine flan with candied pecans.
