Planning Panel Deals Setback to Developer
The developer of the Saddleback Meadows project should have to submit a new environmental study for the construction of 299 homes in Trabuco Canyon, the Orange County Planning Commission said Wednesday.
By a 3-2 vote, the commission recommended to the Board of Supervisors that Aradi Inc. submit a new environmental impact report. The board is expected to act on the recommendation this summer.
County Planning Department spokesman Josh McDonnell said the commission’s vote means that Aradi cannot use an old report for a proposed 705-mobile-home project to build houses instead. The controversial project has lingered for 23 years.
