Bloomberg News

AMR Corp.’s American Airlines ordered 15 Boeing Co. 767-300ER wide-body airplanes, valued at about $1.9 billion at list prices, in an effort to simplify its fleet. Terms weren’t disclosed. Nine of the planes will replace 767s that AMR got in its recent purchase of Trans World Airlines. The others will replace Airbus Industrie A-300-600s on North Atlantic routes, so that only Boeing aircraft are used on those flights. Shares of Fort Worth-based AMR closed off 2 cents at $37.45, and Boeing gained 95 cents to close at $65.95, both on the NYSE.
