Judge Helps Pave Way for Nazi Fund Payouts

From Times Wire Reports

A judge in New York removed a major obstacle holding up payouts from a $4.6-billion fund for more than 1 million victims of Nazi-era slave labor, but other hurdles remain.

U.S. District Judge Shirley Wohl Kram dismissed 10 consolidated lawsuits filed against German banks by dozens of victims. But at least a dozen more such cases are pending in U.S. courts.

For payments from the fund to begin, the settlement needs approval from the German Parliament and German industry.
