Beginning this week, The Times expands its state, regional and local news coverage in a newly designed California section.

Among the changes on Saturdays:

A new weekly feature, “Out There,” on the environment and recreation, debuts on B2.

Daily lottery numbers will appear on B3.

Information on how to reach The Times is on B3.

Steve Harvey’s “Only in L.A.” appears on B4.

Religion news will now appear on B10 and B11.

A new color weather map will appear daily on the back page of the section.
