Shooter Gets Death in Rampage That Killed 5
From Times Wire Reports
An unemployed immigration lawyer was sentenced to die by injection for killing five people in a racially charged shooting rampage last year in suburban Pittsburgh.
An Allegheny County jury reached the verdict two days after convicting 35-year-old Richard Baumhammers of Mount Vernon on five counts of first-degree murder.
The defense had sought to convince jurors that Baumhammers suffered from an untreated mental illness at the time of the slayings. His family said he has a history of mental problems.
