The Motown family is going into business with the Marley family, with a new deal for a label called Ghetto Youth spearheaded by children of late reggae king Bob Marley. The first release will be a debut album from Damian Marley in August, with rapper Eve among the guest performers. Stephen Marley, a key writer and producer in the Melody Makers group fronted by brother Ziggy, also is expected to release a debut in his own name....

Album release--An album by the group Mad for the Racket will not be released in the United States on July 10, as stated in the Pop Eye column in the May 13 Sunday Calendar section. The deal for the U.S. release was not finalized.

Rock band Lit is about to start work on the follow-up album to 1999’s “A Place in the Sun,” which featured that year’s No. 1 modern rock radio song, “My Own Worst Enemy.” The album, due late summer, will debut the band’s RCA label imprint Dirty Martini....
Guitarists Wayne Kramer (ex-MC5) and Brian James (the Damned) have teamed with bassist Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses co-founder) and drummers Stewart Copeland (Police), Clem Burke (Blondie) and Brock Avery (the Deviants) under the group name Mad for the Racket, with “The Racketeers,” an album of original punk-flavored material, due July 10 from Cleopatra Records.
