2nd Protest Against Deputy Who Killed Man
For a second straight day, a group of Virginia City residents protested the shooting death of a longtime local by a sheriff’s deputy.
Demonstrators called for Storey County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark McCreary’s resignation as they marched down C Street.
McCreary was called to a restaurant Thursday after Robert “Bob” McKinney threatened a tourist. McKinney, 56, was shot twice after he approached the deputy with a knife, an official said.
But a relative of McKinney said, “Bob’s death was a very sad tragedy, but it was bound to happen. He was a sociopath.”
