Police arrested a 33-year-old man Tuesday for two alleged assaults on cleaning women in Orange.

James Detory Shipp of Orange was taken to Orange County Jail and was expected to be booked on charges of rape, attempted rape, false imprisonment and burglary in the assaults, which began May 4, said Orange police spokesman Sgt. Dave Hill.

“Neither victim knew the man, but based on their descriptions we developed the information on who he was,” Hill said.

In the first attack, a woman cleaning a house in the 1000 block of East Chalynn Avenue was assaulted about 8:45 a.m. by a man who entered the house through an unlocked door.

In the second incident, about 9 a.m. Sunday, the attacker entered the front glass door of a business in the 1500 block of East Katella Avenue after the woman opened it to clean outside. In that case, Hill said, the woman was able to lock herself inside a bathroom until he left.

Shipp was arrested Tuesday in Garden Grove.
