* Quilts--The Valley Quiltmakers Guild and the San Fernando Valley Quilt Assn. will hold their fourth annual combined show, “Quilting in the Valley,” this weekend at Cal State Northridge, 18111 Nordhoff St. More than 150 quilts will be on display and more than 30 vendors will be on hand. * Bluegrass--The 41st annual Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest will take place Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Paramount Ranch, Cornell Road, Agoura Hills. The contest and folk-art festival started in 1961 in Topanga Canyon but has been held at various Southern California locations over the years. The event will feature music jams, dance demonstrations, folk-art vendors and food. Musicians who have performed at the contest over the years include Jackson Browne, David Lindley, Taj Mahal, John Hartford, Byron Berline, Dan Crary, Phil Salazar and many others. $5-$9. * Community--The Tarzana Street Faire will be held Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., along Ventura Boulevard between Reseda Boulevard and Crebs Avenue. Activities: live entertainment, food, arts and crafts, rides and games. Free. (818) 343-3687.
* Vocals--The 1960s pop group the Lettermen will perform Sunday at 3 and 7 p.m. at Cal State Northridge, 18111 Nordhoff St. The L.A. group earned nine gold albums from 1962 through 1974 and had two top-10 singles, “When I Fall in Love” in 1961 and the medley “Goin’ Out of My Head/Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” in 1967. It has sold more than $25 million worth of records. Tony Butala, the only original member still with the group, today performs with Darren Dowler and Donovan Scott Tea. Other Lettermen hits include “Hurt So Bad” and “The Way You Look Tonight.” $30-$35. (818) 785-8885.
