* Musical Theater--Center Stage Kids, a musical theater workshop, will perform “Kids Take to the High Seas” on May 26 at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza’s Scherr Forum, 2100 E. * Cajun Festival--The Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise will host its 12th annual Cajun Creole Music Festival, May 26-27, at Rancho Santa Susana Park, Los Angeles Avenue and Stearns Street, Simi Valley. * Powwow--Oakbrook Regional Park/Chumash Interpretive Center, 3290 Lang Ranch Parkway, Thousand Oaks, will host the sixth annual “Gathering of the People Powwow,” May 26-27. The alcohol- and drug-free event will feature traditional drumming, dancing, arts and crafts and food. * Classical--The Ojai Music Festival--one of the region’s most respected cultural events--will return to the Libbey Bowl from May 31 to June 3. The 55th annual festival will be led by conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen and artistic director Ernest Fleischmann. Their wide-ranging program will include orchestral and chamber music concerts, recitals and a symposium. American soprano Dawn Upshaw will appear in recital and with orchestra, as well as giving a master class for young singers. Other performers will include British pianist Paul Crossley, Cuarteto Latinoamericano, and Latin jazz musicians Oscar Castro-Neves and Dori Caymmi. For schedule and ticket information, call 646-2094.
