80 Guerrilla Suspects Surrender in Kosovo
Eighty suspected ethnic Albanian guerrillas surrendered to NATO in Kosovo, taking advantage of an amnesty intended to avert bloodshed in the neighboring Presevo Valley area of Serbia.
The suspects, some in military uniform, crossed into eastern Kosovo from the Presevo Valley in two groups a few hours apart, the NATO-led peacekeeping force said. U.S. troops confiscated two pistols, four knives and three radios.
The guerrillas were told that they would not be detained if they crossed into Kosovo within the next eight days and were not suspected of serious crimes.
