From Times Wire Reports

The Bush administration will let stand Clinton-era regulations aimed at protecting coal miners from tiny particles in diesel exhaust that can penetrate their lungs, increasing the risk of cancer and other diseases.

But, for the second time, the administration has delayed a diesel emission rule that would affect other mining operations, such as iron ore and gold.

Labor Secretary Elaine Chao said she needs another 45 days to review the rule affecting metal and nonmetal mines.
