Giant Bicycle Recalls About 2,400 Front Forks

Giant Bicycle Inc. is recalling about 2,400 bicycle front forks, which connect the handle bars to the front wheel, because they can break and cause a rider to lose control, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
The Newbury Park-based company has received two reports of forks breaking, one that resulted in a minor injury, the commission said.
The carbon-fiber forks were sold on 2001-model Giant TCR Team bicycles and unassembled frame sets distributed by the company’s authorized dealers from September 2000 through April. The frame sets sold for $500 to $1,000, and the bicycles sold for $1,000 to $4,500, the commission said.
Consumers should return the bicycles to a Giant dealer for a free inspection and repair.
