Senate OKs 2 Nominees for Treasury Posts

From Times Wire Reports

The Senate approved two nominees for senior positions at the Treasury Department, helping the agency fill a backlog of empty posts.

John Taylor, pegged as Treasury’s point person on international affairs, and David Aufhauser, slated for general counsel, will now be able to assume their jobs officially.

Taylor, who was a key advisor to Bush during his presidential campaign, was picked by President Bush in March, but the approval process moved slowly, partly because of a dispute Sen. Jesse Helms (R-N.C.) had with Treasury over textile mills.
