Fluor Corp. said Tuesday that a joint venture has won a $195-million contract to build a 1,036-megawatt, combined-cycle power generation plant in Mexico, the largest of its kind in the country.

The Aliso Viejo engineering and consulting firm said in a news release that its ICA Fluor Daniel venture will provide engineering, procurement, construction and start-up services for what would be a 27-month project.

ICA Fluor Daniel will build the plant in Altamira, Tamaulipas, for Iberdrola Energia Altamira, a subsidiary of Spain’s Grupo Iberdrola. Fluor’s partner in the venture is Empresas ICA Sociedad Controladora in Mexico City.
