Wallflowers, Pussycat Dolls Play at Viper

Share

Memorial Weekend turned into a memorable week, as scenesters frolicked at such hauntsas the Viper Room, which lived up to its rad reputation with performances by the Wallflowers (who kicked out the jams on Tuesday) and Saturday’s star-studded Pussycat Dolls gala.

The 6-year-old dance troupe wowed us in the past but imagine our delight when former Pussycat Doll Christina Applegate introduced the lovely uber-vixen Gwen Stefani, who turned the place upside-down with renditions of “Big Spender” and “13 Men.” The view from the stage wasn’t bad either, with Christina Aguilera, Alicia Silverstone and Cameron Diaz enjoying the Fosse-inspired spectacle. Meow. . . .

One of my favorite she-devils tells me she had a super-cool moment at promoter Josh Richman’s birthday party, which happened May 22 at the newly christened bar at the Standard Hotel in WeHo. While admiring a rat-tail mohawk from behind, its owner--Anthony Kiedis--turned around and winked at her. Shazam. . . . Big thangs ahead for the Bel Age on the Strip, which is hosting a Sensory Circus on June 9. Among the freaky performers are Bottle Rocket (featuring Porno For Pyros’ Peter DiStephano) and Groove Convention’s star-deejay Chris Monaco. The event is a fund-raiser for Red Road, an organization that takes city kids on wilderness experiences. Super cool.

Had a blast last week with my favorite divorcees, Tony and Tami Gower, owners of the Derby in Los Feliz. While Tony celebrated his 40th birthday, guests swooned to the tunes of the Royal Crown Revue. RCR frontman Eddie Nichols’ solo set on Wednesdays is turning into must-see clubbing. . . . A messy split between Giant promoters and Circus nightclub has resulted in club-hopping for the famed Saturday electronica club. Giant’s now testing out various venues (such as the Hollywood Athletic Club), while Circus has added Spundae to its Saturday night lineup. . . . Speaking of the H.A.C., Dee Dee Ramone was among the party animals who showed up for Sunday’s Vacation in Hollywood bash, which was hosted by famed drag diva Jackie Beat. Jackie is also hosting Saturday’s Marilyn Monroe b-day party at Club Make-Up at the El Rey Theatre. Yummy.
